By Bob Warren No, it wasn’t a bad dream. Day 3 post Hurricane Ida dawned and we’re still digging out and trying to figure the best way to A) find gasoline, B) find food, water and tarps and C) find internet and D) get power restored and D) find more gasoline. Here’s what we know Wednesday morning: Entergy says more than 11,000 customers have been turned back on after the first power plant and transmission lines in the city were restored. Here's the situation on St. Tammany's power power restoration efforts. But the situation was pretty bleak in Jefferson Parish. And we're keeping a list of places where you can buy gas, food, etc. (Please note: This isn’t a comprehensive list – new spots are coming on as they are able to generate power.)Careful with the generators: Meanwhile, there have been a number of mishaps with generators. This morning emergency medical services brought 12 people to the hospital with carbon monoxide poisoning. Second victim dies: The shooting that claimed the life of a New Orleans police detective vacationing in Houston last month has now claimed a second victim. Dyrin “DJ” Riculfy, 43, was taken off life support Tuesday. He had been in the hospital since being shot, along with NOPD officer Everett Briscoe, during an armed robbery outside a Houston restaurant. Saints game moved: Finally, the Saints won't open the season in the newly-named Caesars Superdome, after all. Hurricane Ida sent the team packing and, with the New Orleans region being such a mess right now, the Saints will play the Green Bay Packers on Sept. 12 in Jacksonville, Florida. Least it's not in Tampa . . . Thanks for taking a break with the Lunch Line today. Stay safe and hope you're coping well. BW Five ways to stay informed about tropical weather1.
