In October, CDP’s Discloser 2021 numbers were announced. A record-breaking 13,100+ companies disclosed, up 37% from 2020, and worth 64% of global market capitalization. After a year of extreme weather worldwide, and despite the difficulties of the pandemic, this signifies that environmental disclosure is now a business norm – learn more about the Discloser 2021 outcomes here. These outcomes coincided with the release of CDP’s new 2021-25 strategy, which sets out how CDP will accelerate progress through disclosure, insight and action. At COP26, CDP’s three key asks for COP26 included commitments to interim 2030 targets, mandatory environmental disclosure, and the foundations of a sustainable financial system. Recent CDP analysis shows that over 60% of total global fund assets have an expected temperature path of over 2.7°C of global warming. Just 0.5% of funds are currently aligned to a 1.5°C future. COP26 must be a springboard to an economy-wide transformationCOP26 was set to be the most important meeting since the Paris Agreement was signed in 2015, heralded as the transition COP - the critical meeting that would move us from negotiation of policy to its implementation.
