Post-bye blues or woos? History says...

Hello, hello!

This is Terrin Waack checking in for the Saturday edition of the Saints Insider newsletter. The date is Dec. 17, 2022.

Hope everyone enjoyed the bye week. The Saints return to action this Sunday inside the Caesars Superdome for a noon Week 15 rematch against the Atlanta Falcons. FOX will carry the game broadcast coverage.

You'll remember: The Saints defeated the Falcons, 27-26, in Week 1. Way back in September. But now, in December, New Orleans enters 4-9, while Atlanta is 5-8.

Now, let's get to the latest and greatest content from your Nola.com crew.

  • The Saints have won seven of their last eight post-bye games at home. Well, the Falcons have won seven of their last eight post-bye games on the road. Yours truly has a full analysis on what the means for Sunday, if anything.
  • Saints center Erik McCoy was designated to return from injured reserve this week. He spoke to the media Friday for the first time since before he was placed on the list. I cover the bases on how he's feeling — and what this could mean for the offensive line.
  • The Saints ruled out just two players for Sunday's game on Friday's injury report: linebacker Zack Baun (ankle) and safety P.J. Williams (knee). Another seven are questionable, though. I put those names and the Falcons' report in writing.
  • This Sunday's Falcons-Saints matchup could be valuable for in the betting world. There are multiple Week 15 players props plays and matchups to keep an eye on. Nola.com betting writer Spencer Urquhart has you covered.
  • Don't want to read? Episode 125 of the Dattitude podcast previews the Falcons-Saints game via audio. Listen in as columnist Jeff Duncan and crew hold down the fort.

I believe that's it! Be sure to check out Nola.com's designated Saints page to make sure I didn't miss anything for you.

Enjoy your weekend!

Waack out.
