Scientist Seamus Blackley collected ancient yeast by scraping the interior of Egyptian pots approximately 4,500 years old at the Museum of Fine Arts and the Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology at Harvard. Blackley then used the yeast to bake a loaf of bread with only ingredients that would have been available in ancient Egypt, describing the taste as richer and sweeter than modern bread.
