Missing toddler

A search for a missing 2-year-old stretched into its second day as her family waited for answers. 

Nevaeh Allen was last seen around 1 p.m. Friday after her stepdad put her down for a nap, the family told police. A few hours later, when her siblings came home from school, they noticed her missing. BRPD sounded the alarm. Louisiana State Police announced a statewide search. By the next morning, the FBI got involved.

Fatal shootings

A heart-wrenching scene played out in a north Baton Rouge neighborhood where a 41-year-old man was fatally shot Saturday afternoon. It was the second shooting in as many days, after police said a husband killed his wife the night before elsewhere in the city. 

'Small but dangerous'

Weather watchers have their eye on Hurricane Sam, which strengthened Saturday into a "small but dangerous" Cat 4 storm while veering northwest across the Atlantic. Liam Pierce brought us this update. 

Squirrel!

An outage left thousands in Baton Rouge's Mid City and Garden District went without power for hours early Saturday. Only this time, the culprit wasn't a mighty hurricane but a lowly tree rat.
