Dear Friends, We are happy to announce Poetry Daily has been awarded a two-year $5,000 capacity-building grant from the Community of Literary Magazines and Presses (CLMP)! This grant will allow us to increase our fundraising and sponsorship capacities, with the goal of using the increased revenue to create two full-time staff positions within two years. This award helps to ensure that Poetry Daily remains the premier online promoter of contemporary poets and publishers. “This is the beginning of an exciting and pivotal moment for our organization,” said Martin Mitchell, Poetry Daily’s managing editor. “CLMP’s generous support is a testament to the important promotional role that Poetry Daily has played in the literary community for over 25 years. It is also a vote of confidence in our plans for the future. These plans include robust public programming and expanded community service, while also allowing us to focus on our core mission of making contemporary poetry an accessible part of every person’s life.” Through its Capacity-Building Grant Program, CLMP will support grantees’ projects in areas such as fundraising, finance, marketing, publicity, distribution, and website development; skill-building opportunities for staff or board members; diversity and equity initiatives; leadership development and management training; strategic planning; and succession planning. A grant from the Hawthornden Foundation, originally founded in 1983 by the late Drue Heinz, makes this program possible. Read about all of this year’s grant recipients. We're grateful to CLMP for their support and look forward to sharing updates with you, our loyal readers. With gratitude, The Poetry Daily Team
