Dear John,
It's been a tumultuous year for higher ed. Enrollment and financial challenges. Growing student demands for campus change. A difficult political environment.
What do these issues mean for the future of colleges and universities?
Please join me and other Chronicle journalists to explore how todayâs trends will develop in the coming years. During this yearâs Chronicle Festival, a three-day virtual event dedicated to understanding the ideas shaping higher ed, we will look at The Road Ahead to 2035.
We have a fantastic line-up of college leaders, including Robin Holmes-Sullivan, president of Lewis & Clark College; Pam Eddinger, president of Bunker Hill Community College; and Nancy Gonzales, provost of Arizona State University.
Of all the speakers, perhaps I am most excited to hear from Anthony Jack, an associate professor at Boston University. Tony rose to national prominence with his 2019 book, The Privileged Poor: How Elite Colleges Are Failing Disadvantaged Students. He has another book that will be published soon that furthers his examination of the entrenched inequities facing many students â and what colleges can do to help them. Tony, who I always find engaging and insightful, will talk with our Sarah Brown about what he discovered.
To register, click here. Registrants will receive a complimentary downloadable report on The Road Ahead to 2035. And when you sign up, let me know what questions youâd like us to ask the speakers. We want your voice in the conversation, too!
Sincerely,
Ian Wilhelm
