The Sunday Round-Up | March 13, 2022

Good morning! I bet I'm not the only one who woke up this morning, looked at the time on my phone and thought, "Wow! I slept late!" I sometimes find spring's one-hour time change more difficult to manage than jet lag.

It's a good thing we're back from Hawaii since they don't observe Daylight Savings Time (along with most of Arizona, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam and the Northern Marianas) because a six-hour time change from the east coast would be too much for my dad, who is in Connecticut. He calls me when he wakes up at 9am and then I would have to call him by noon HST just to say good night. 😂

Trip Report: Los Angeles to Honolulu in United Polaris
Although we're back from Hawaii, the memories, photos and videos of our trip will keep us warm and fuzzy for years to come. Here is part one of our trip.

Here's How You Can Help the People of Ukraine
The situation in Ukraine is beyond heartbreaking and infuriating. Putin's unprovoked war is impacting the world including the travel industry. I have some stories below on the subject of traveling this spring and summer to Europe. Also, one of my American friends sent me an email about his trip to Poland last week and I turned it into an article to share his experience crossing the border in Central Europe. If you have the means to help, here are some meaningful organizations to donate to.

Below are this week's travel tips, including a new one for today for those who love Italian food. There are also a whole slew of travel news stories so please scroll down for this week's Sunday Round-Up.

Travel Quote of the Day
"I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake. The great affair is to move." ~ Robert Louis Stevenson

Travel Tweet of the Day
@NomadicMatt: Learning to go with the flow is the most important part of travel planning. Travel is about letting things unfold and happen naturally. Don't over plan. Let serendipity happen.

Travel Products of the Week
Plane Too Hot? Plane Too Cold? Bring These Items
On Friday, I wrote about something I always keep in my travel bag in case the airplane is too cold (you can read that story here). This prompted a comment from a reader about being on a plane that was overheated, which reminded me of another pocket-sized gadget I also have in my carry-on bag. Check it out here.

Travel Tip of the Day
Rao's is on Sale
This is more of a life tip than a travel tip but since there's so much to read today, I figured this is the best day to share it with you. And it's a Sunday (growing up, we always had pasta for dinner on Sundays) and it's on sale. Read the story here.
