Pinterest yesterday announced a number of new commerce marketing updates designed to make product discovery easier. Users can now find in-stock fashion or home decor products in several new ways, including through a new “Shop” tab that will appear on Search and on boards to identify in-stock products from retailers. Additionally, Pinterest’s visual search functionality is now integrated directly in shoppable Pins and new home decor style guides can be found via Search. The updates have already started to roll out and include price and brand filters. The Shop tab on boards will show products from or inspired by the Pins users have saved to their home decor or fashion boards. In other news, a new survey that argues in favor of the value of SEO during an economic downturn. The survey of 317 marketers in B2B, retail, healthcare and media among other industries, found that more than 60% expect to focus more on SEO, with its long-term benefits, during this time as advertising budgets are getting cut.
