The exhibits in this exhibition were collected over a period of about 30 years, some of them have already been shown in presentations, others are being presented for the first time. The focus is on evolved structures, moments that have been overlooked or those owed to chance. They are examined concisely, humorously and critically. Direct images of people tend to recede into the background, no matter how much their everyday life and work is often the origin of what is reflected in the photographs shown and becomes the motif of the picture. In many cases, they establish that the natural environment, on which everything is based, also permeates the network of what is shown, changes substantially as well as in its meaning, and plays a new essential role. Questions of time determine the interpretation of what we perceive, and above all it is photographs that stimulate us on many levels to deal with the past in the field of tension between the present and the future. | | | | |

August-Sander-Award Winner 2022
Presentation of the 2022 August-Sander-Award to Sora Park:
Thursday, 1 September, 7.30 pm.
Born in 1991 in South Korea and currently living in Essen and Berlin, artist Sora Park will be awarded the August-Sander-Prize 2022, donated by Ulla Bartenbach and Prof. Dr. Kurt Bartenbach. The award-winning series "Bei mir, bei Dir" ("With me, with you"), created between 2018 and 2021, is striking for its sensitively explored and balanced interplay of portrait and spatial study. Either in her own home or in that of her counterpart, Sora Park photographed people from her surroundings. The artist approaches them individually, senses momentary states and idiosyncrasies, maintains distance without being aloof.
In the fall of 2023, the series "Bei mir, bei Dir" will be shown in Room 2 of the Photographische Sammlung/SK Stiftung Kultur. | | | | | | unsubscribe here
