The fair runs from 21 - 26 September 2021, coinciding with the international modern and contemporary fair Art Basel. From its inaugural edition in 2015, photo basel has cemented its profile as the most prominent photography fair in the Germanspeaking region. Bringing together galleries from around the world, the fair fosters a dialogue between members of the photographic and broader art world communities, attracting collectors, visual art experts and international media at a key moment in the annual art world calendar (Art Basel week). Following the fair’s expansion in 2019, the fair takes over both floors of the Volkshaus Basel again. photo basel welcomes 40 international exhibitors - coming from 16 nations for this September edition. Some of the newly incoming exhibitors this year include Robert Morat (Berlin), Migrant Bird Space (Berlin), Gowen Contemporary (Geneva), Galerie 193 (Paris), Artco (Berlin, Aachen & Cape Town), AKKA (Venice & Dubai), ISSP (Riga), Gallery Bart (Amsterdam), Thierry Marlat (Paris). photo basel is pleased to work with Audrey Hoareau as artistic director of photo basel for this edition. A photography specialist, Hoareau began her career working in the Collections department of the musée Nicéphore Niépce in Chalon-sur-Saône from 2003 to 2016. Hommage to Arnold Odermatt In addition, photo basel dedicates a curated exhibition to the recently deceased Swiss photographer Arnold Odermatt. NFT Cabinet In collaboration with Samsung, photo basel introduces the first ever NFT cabinet – featuring digital photographic positions to be seen, experienced, and bought at the fair. Flooded art project Extreme floods have shattered parts of Germany (and Europe) this past July. Unavoidable, it has destroyed many businesses and did not make a halt from galleries and their respective art storages. So it did in the case of German gallery Artco (Berlin, Aachen and Cape town). To demonstrate what so called "flooded art" looks like – photo basel dedicates a small sector to this new form of destroyed art and hopes to highlight the impact of the climate on various aspects of our lives. Swiss Grand Award for Design 2021 – Winner Peter Knapp Since 2007, the Swiss Federal Office of Culture presents this prestigious award. This year’s winner, acclaimed fashion photographer Peter Knapp, will shoot individual portraits during the official fair hours at photo basel. (Parts of the benefits will run into helping the flooded art project). Partnerships photo basel will continue the partnership with Jaguar and Land Rover to provide VIPs with transport for the duration of the fair. This service must be booked in advance and RSVP is essential. photo basel will collaborate with SAMSUNG for the NFT cabinet. Entry guidelines The health and safety of our staff, exhibitors and visitors is paramount to photo basel. In compliance with the Swiss federal and cantonal public health department, all visitors to the fair must be either fully vaccinated, recovered or tested negative against Covid-19. | | | | | | © photo basel | | | | unsubscribe here Newsletter was sent to [email protected] © 16 Sep 2021 photo-index UG (haftungsbeschränkt) Ziegelstr. 29 .
