It's probably a good sign if a rookie has earned two nicknames from his teammates a handful of games into his NBA career. That's what's happened with Herb Jones, a.k.a. "Straitjacket," a.k.a. "Not on Herb." Jones has gained a reputation for his defense. Coach Willie Green already trusts him enough to deploy him on the league's premier perimeter scorers. Last month, Jones started the game guarding Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young. He picked Young up 80 feet from New Orleans' basket. Jones has been one of the few brights spots — maybe the only bright spot — in this miserable Pelicans season. New Orleans has outscored opponents by 20 points in his 323 minutes on the floor. He is the only player on the roster whose minutes have been a net positive in scoring differential. You can read our feature on Jones here. -- Christian |
