Peak of Flight Newsletter #504:

Teaching Rocketry In Two Hours or Less

Peak-of-Flight Newsletter

When you have a limited amount of time to teach rocketry, what do you present? That is what Annette Sostarich faces when she gives make-and-take presentations. At the end of the two hours, her students leave with a flight-ready rocket and at least a little bit of practical theory on rocket flight. Through an abbreviated copy of Apogee’s educator package, the students learn that every part of a rocket has its counterpart to the “big ones” at NASA (not the “real ones” – our rockets are real, too!).

The objective is not just to get them interested in model rocketry, but also to give them something that causes them to think. It’s important to create a generation of “makers” rather than passive consumers. A little hands-on experience can be priceless to those who may be spending too much time in the “virtual” world. Read more in this issue about what you too can teach in less than 2-hours.

Read the rest of this week's article, either on a downloadable PDF for printing out, or on our website (great for viewing on your phone)!

Estes Double Ringer

Double Ringer Rocket Kit

The new Double Ringer is a unique rocket in that it uses two special gliders called "annular wings" attached to the side that provide stability for the rocket as it ascends into the air. When the rocket reaches apogee and the parachute is ejected, the two gliders detach from the tube and fly gently to the the ground. This is a great kit for younger rocketeers, as it is designed to be simple to build.

It can be assembled very quickly, and it flies straight and true. You can be assured that you'll have a successful launch and an impactful experience when you use this rocket in your classroom. Customer Comments

“I am just learning about high powered rockets. I had a couple of questions and not only was Tim nice enough to answer but he went into detail about it even though I was not buying anything at that time. I don't know to many companies that spend hours making free videos about the how to's and I am sure with a company like his he is pretty busy. It means alot to me for someone to do all they can to help you even if you are only spending 5 dollars. I just wish i lived close to them because I would spend alot of time and money with them. So if you need help, they actually care about your safety and fun, not just your wallet. Because of that I will do my part to return the favor by buying when I can. THANKS TIM AND COMPANY.”

I need help with generating the bi-weekly newsletter articles since it takes a lot of effort to put them together. And I'm willing to pay big bucks for your help.

So ask yourself, are you looking to earn some extra money?

I'm now actively seeking writers for articles to appear in this newsletter. And I want unique and cutting-edge articles because that is what you want to read, right? I realize this, so to get articles from outside writers that have the same level of quality, I'm going to have to pay a lot of cash to make it worth it for them. So I've come up with a compensation package where I'll pay up to $350 for good how-to articles.

Are you a writer, and does that interest you? That is a lot of cash! Far more than you'll get by writing for other magazines. And with over 23,000 worldwide subscribers, if you write for the Peak-of-Flight Newsletter, you'll gain a lot of notoriety. Writing for the Peak-of-Flight Newsletter is a great way to show off your rocketry projects and your technical expertise, at the same time as helping out other rocketeers. Imagine how great you'll feel knowing that you made a difference to the hobby.

If you're interested in writing, see the guidelines on our site.
