Last night in Perth, the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA) Western Australia branch hosted its annual Excellence Awards, celebrating the achievements of four distinguished local pharmacists. Susan Shipway was named WA Pharmacist of the Year for her outstanding service and dedication. Maria Luz Cianca received the WA Intern Pharmacist of the Year award, highlighting her promise and early contributions to the pharmacy practice. Jade Swarbrick took home the WA Early Career Pharmacist of the Year award, recognised for her innovative work and impact at the outset of her career. And Liza Seubert was honoured with the WA Lifetime Achievement Award, celebrating her long-standing commitment and excellence in the field. The awards recognised individuals who are not only innovating within the field but also setting new standards for practice and serving as leaders in the community. Kristian Ray, President of PSA Western Australia, praised the awardees, stating, “Pharmacists are making significant contributions to the health sector, and Western Australia is home to some of the best”. He concluded the event by congratulating the 2024 award recipients on behalf of the PSA and all West Australian pharmacists, underscoring the vital role pharmacists play in healthcare.
