| | Pharmacies to provide vapes without a script under new Butler deal | Minister set to backflip on prescription-only plan. | Federal Health Minister, Mark Butler, will shortly announce details of a revised regulatory regime governing the sale of vapes, after reportedly coming to an agreement with cross-bench parliamentarians to allow the required legislation to pass. When the new scheme comes into effect in July, a prescription from a doctor will be required to purchase a vape in a pharmacy, but "at a future date, vapes will become available as a behind-the-counter product after a conversation with the pharmacist," according to sources cited by Nine Publishing this afternoon. The revised proposal follows a deal struck today with the Greens, which will enable the new laws banning the retail sale of vapes to pass the Senate. More details in tomorrow's issue of Pharmacy Daily.
