Australia’s COVID-19 booster vaccination program is set to be extended to include 16 and 17-year-olds after the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) gave the green-light for Pfizer's Comirnaty to be used as a top-up shot in that age group.
Details as to when the rollout of booster doses in this cohort will commence are expected to be announced by the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) in the coming days.
The TGA’s decision to grant provisional approval for the booster for individuals aged 16 to 17 years follows similar steps by regulators in the US, UK and Israel.
