‘Everyone knew Beaver’: If you saw a concert in New Orleans over the past, oh, four or five decades, there’s a fair chance a New Orleans guy had a hand in it. From the Allman Brothers and Fleetwood Mac at the cavernous Warehouse on Tchoupitoulas Street to Bob Dylan at the swank Saenger Theatre, Don Fox and his ubiquitous Beaver Productions left an indelible mark on the region’s live music scene, Keith Spera reports. Big brew: Faubourg Brewing Co. in New Orleans recently announced it was merging with three other breweries to create a regional craft brew powerhouse. Great news for Faubourg. But, our Tony McAuley reports, the news hasn't been so well-received in one North Carolina town. Too much? LSU fans rushed the field after the team’s win against Ole Miss Saturday at Tiger Stadium. It'll cost LSU $250,000 -- the amount the school has been fined by the SEC. Some on social media, meanwhile, worried more about the Tigers' reputation, asking if the celebration was a little, uh, much for a win against Ole Miss. Harsh! Running low: If you've been out to the Mississippi River lately, you've probably noticed how low it is. Lots of exposed beaches where water typically would lap against the bank. Reporter Mike Smith took a deep dive into the reasons it's so low. And photographer Chris Granger has a photo gallery you'll want to see.
