Welcome to the weekend. Just 10 days to Mardi Gras! Nine (!) Carnival parades are scheduled Saturday in the New Orleans area, with rain likely for afternoon processions. Also, somebody was shot near the Krewe of Eve parade route, and Cleopatra snagged a tree limb. To lead the Louisiana agency that oversees youth jails and other components of the juvenile justice system, Gov. Jeff Landry on Friday named the retired director of a juvenile detention center that was plagued by allegations of child abuse. The New Orleans Saints have chosen an offensive coordinator to improve on the unit’s anemic 2023 season under the since-fired Pete Carmichael.
