| Good evening, Congratulations will be in order tomorrow for a remarkable generation - and not just because of any grades they receive. Safe to say this is an unusual year in many ways and not least for those (largely) 18-year-olds receiving A-Level and vocational qualification results here in Lancashire. Their school year ended unceremoniously in lockdown, only to be picked up again via online means and the experience has been different for every single student. They did not sit exams in a traditional manner, instead being graded upon teachers' predictions. From tomorrow, at 8am, they could find out that grade. Although teachers can invite pupils into schools to collect results, the usual jumping up and down in person is likely to be masked and muted for obvious reasons, but a celebration nonetheless. We need to remember what these students have achieved is remarkable. Continuing to study in an international pandemic and time of universal uncertainty. They deserve not just exam results - but a medal. Their challenge does not end here. A day after we report a new recession, with companies shedding jobs and universities pivoting learning methods, they have a new landscape to negotiate.
