It’s Rukhl, The Forward’s Yiddish editor! August is just getting started and if you’re like me, you’re probably dreaming about some time to rest, relax, and enjoy a breezy summer afternoon. 

During a normal summer we’d be covering klezmer festivals, art openings, and summer productions of plays like Fiddler on the Roof. So many of these are cancelled this year — but that hasn’t stopped us from providing some פֿאַנטאַסטישע (fantastic!) ways to enjoy summer, Yiddish-style.

Our Yiddish-language crossword puzzles are one great way to enjoy summer with The Forward. Thanks to the generosity of the KMD Foundation, you can use our new online platform to get help with the clues and solve each puzzle. They’re the perfect thing to bring with you on your next trip to the beach or while swinging in a hammock!

Features like our Yiddish crossword are one of the ways we work every day to keep Yiddish language journalism alive and thriving. We’re also publishing exciting Yiddish video content, including our Yiddish Word of the Day series, released every weekday, and our weekly Yiddish yoga classes. The Forward is now the only online Yiddish-language daily outside of the Hasidic community and we’re incredibly proud to be able to serve readers this way.
