Police Chief Thomas Morse Jr. said his department is organizing a “special unit” that will work with existing patrols to “increase proactive policing” going into the weekend. Read more about the reaction to the slayings here. East Baton Rouge Parish Public Schools is looking for a new permanent superintendent after the departure of Sito Narcisse. The timing of when that search will begin remains in flux. The board is considering a proposal that would call for development of a new strategic vision for the school system before it advertises the opening. The board has a little over five months to find a new superintendent.
