Dear reader, It gives me great pleasure to announce the publication of the inaugural edition of the ALB Japan E-magazine. You can read the issue, and also download the PDF, from this link. To be produced every two months, this bilingual (English/Japanese) e-magazine will focus on the stories and developments that impact lawyers in both private practice as well as in-house. In this inaugural issue, we look at the impact of the pandemic on Japan’s legal market, and what the rest of the year can bring. In the August issue, we look at overseas investment of Japanese companies, unpacking the specific pitfalls and regulatory challenges that in-house counsels are tasked with tackling. Further themes will be unveiled in due course. The ALB Japan e-magazine will also feature contributions from legal experts both inside and outside Japan. We will be inviting them to offer analysis on critical developments and trends within the country and across the region that are impacting Japanese lawyers. In this issue, we have contributions covering topics like attorney-client privilege in antitrust contexts; corporate governance related to the upcoming TSE market restructuring; shareholder activism; and challenges faced by in-house counsel in dealing with disputes. As a valued reader of ALB, your feedback on this most welcome, so do not hesitate to contact me at the email below with your questions and comments. To submit news and other updates, please do not hesitate to contact me. Story suggestions are welcome as well. To advertise in this e-magazine, please contact Hiroshi Kaneko at [email protected].
