By Drew Broach | Deputy metro editor (F)UTILITY: Entergy executives said Thursday they still had no idea how long it will take to restore electricity to the vast majority of New Orleans area customers, as residents endured a fourth day without commercial power since Hurricane Ida blacked out the region. And the utility's online outage maps, the ones everyone is checking to see when their neighborhood will have juice? They're not accurate. DEATH HOUSE: Shortly before Hurricane Ida struck, seven south Louisiana nursing homes all owned by the same person packed 843 residents into a warehouse in the Tangipahoa Parish town of Independence to ride out the storm. After spending six days in the fetid building with overflowing toilets and piled-up garbage, four residents died and state health officials began rescuing the rest. SALT IN THE WOUND: The power might be out over almost all of New Orleans, but those speed and stoplight cameras are still taking pictures of violators. City Hall said the cameras operate on solar power and, not to worry, that no citations will be issued.
