Nicos Christodoulides is the favourite in the first round of the Cypriot presidential election 09/01/2023 After two consecutive terms in office, the outgoing Cypriot head of state, Nicos Anastasiades of the Democratic Rally (DISY), cannot stand for re-election in the first round of the presidential elections to be held on 5 February. Former Foreign Minister Nicos Christodoulides is leading the polls with 39.73% of the vote, ahead of DISY president Averof Neophytou and Andreas Mavroyiannis supported by the Progressive Party of Workers (AKEL). A second round will be held on 12 February if none of the 14 candidates achieves an absolute majority. |

Map of European recovery plans In response to the economic and social consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, the European Union has set up a €672.5 billion recovery fund, known as the Recovery and Resilience Facility, for Member States, in the form of grants and loans. The Foundation provides an interactive map of the plans country by country, with the figures, timetables and priorities. |
