Oregon Republican legislators want to throw out the votes of millions of Americans and overturn the election

A dozen current and soon-to-be Oregon Republican legislators want Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum to join a lawsuit that would throw out the votes of millions of Americans in an attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 Election.

It's difficult to overstate how alarming and dangerous this is. It's an affront to our democracy and rule of law, and a betrayal of the ideals that our country was founded upon. And it must be stopped.

The lawsuit's argument is essentially that elections are only legitimate when Republicans win.

In particular, these Oregon Republicans take issue with states making it easier for Americans to vote-by-mail in the 2020 Election — an election held in the midst of a global pandemic!

One of the Oregon Republicans on board with this attack on our democracy is State Senator Kim Thatcher, who just failed in her attempt to become Oregon's next Secretary of State, the person in charge of overseeing and administering Oregon's elections!

Thankfully this fall, Oregonians defeated Thatcher and elected Shemia Fagan to be Secretary of State, and also re-elected Ellen Rosenblum as Attorney General.

AG Rosenblum has already joined a bipartisan group of Attorneys General from across the country to oppose Texas' last-minute attempt to have the U.S. Supreme Court overturn the will of the American people.

As she put it, "Texas has no business interfering in other states' elections! The sooner the Court rejects this latest outrage, the better."

Even after the Supreme Court rejects this undemocratic attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 Election, this letter makes clear that these Oregon Republicans have little to no regard for our democracy. We're working hard to make sure we defeat them in future elections, but we need your support.
