On November 8, 2016, Americans went to the polls to elect their new president. However, in nine states, there was an equally significant issue on the ballot, which was the legalization of marijuana. Voters in Arizona, California, Maine, Massachusetts, and Nevada were to decide on the legalization of the recreational use of the substance while Arkansas, Florida, Montana, and North Dakota were deciding on it being legalized for medical use. Only in Arizona, where cannabis is already legal for medical use, did the recreational use proposition not find favor. In the other eight states, there was overwhelming support. |
