A prelude to the John Beargrease sled dog marathon was held in Canal Park on Friday morning, but you won't see these pups in the race on Sunday.  

Due to the absence of significant environmental impacts identified during the public comment period after an Environmental Impact Statement was released to the public in January of 2017, the U.S. Forest Service will now do an environmental analysis for a proposed mineral withdrawl in the Superior National Forest. 

The John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon might not start until Sunday, but there are a few events starting Friday to help kick off the weekend.
