School’s out - of money: Man swindles district for millions If you cheat in school, you can get expelled for academic dishonesty. If you cheat a school, you could end up with a few million dollars. One man in Florida put this theory to the test when he sent a fraudulent invoice for contracting services to a school all the way in Texas. Rather than look closely at who they were sending money to and why, the school administrators quickly signed off on a $1,995,715.52 bank transfer. Upon receiving the money, the fraudster immediately spent it on a BMW and several Rolex watches. Fancy! This money was supposed to be used to build a new elementary school. Thankfully, local police managed to catch the suspect and put him on trial. The FBI is now investigating whether he has any other victims, so we’d suggest the bureau check his garage for any more BMWs just to be safe. School sure is different than it was when we attended… Tap or click here to see seven shocking misconceptions about school. → |
