The New Orleans Saints have faced so many hurdles on their way to 5-2, and Sunday’s 36-27 win over the Tampa Buccaneers serves as a great example of how this team continues to overcome the odds. An injury-plagued squad suffered another significant setback with QB Jameis Winston going down in the second quarter. His backup, Trevor Siemian, didn’t exactly out-play Tom Brady, but he did just enough and avoided a turnover. When P.J. Williams intercepted Brady late in the fourth quarter, it was the perfect close to what had been a crazy Halloween game in the Caesars Superdome. The only quiet moment was the hush that followed Winston’s injury early in the first quarter. In the fourth, every fan in the dome had to be worrying that Brady would do what Brady always does in the fourth quarter - lead his team to a game-winning drive. Instead, it was Williams who sent fans into a frenzy with a game-clinching interception. Some may question the Saints’ chances of winning the NFC South with Winston potentially sidelined for quite some time, but Sean Payton and company keep finding a way. Enjoy your Monday, and I hope you’ve fully recovered from a wild Halloween weekend in New Orleans. |
