What is Our Grandview?
"Our Grandview" is a parent-driven advocacy campaign to encourage government leaders to approve capital development funding for a new facility for Grandview Children's Centre. This campaign is organized by Grandview's Family Task Force, a subcommittee of Grandview's Family Advisory Council. Learn more
Apply to become a member of Grandview’s
volunteer Family Advisory Committee
We are looking for parents and/or guardians of Grandview Children’s Centre clients interested in representing the family’s role in their child/ren’s care and treatment. Currently, our Family Advisory Committee (FAC) is seeking:
Members at Large
The FAC acts as a resource to the Board and to the Executive Director, and provides an opportunity for families to have input into strategic decisions that affect families, clients and/or potential clients of Grandview Children's Centre. The FAC also hosts networking and social events for families of Grandview Kids.
Committee members are expected to attend monthly board meetings in Oshawa on the last Thursday of each month, and to be involved in additional committee work, or events.
 
Interested candidates are asked to forward a letter of interest to the FAC secretary no later than March 16, 2015 and attend the Annual General Meeting on March 26, 2015 in Oshawa at 6:00pm:

If your child is currently receiving services at Grandview, you are eligible to join our closed, members-only Facebook Group, Grandview OPS (Online Parent Support), moderated by our Family Facilitator Andrea Belanger.
Go to facebook.com/groups/Grandview.OPS and choose "Join Group" near the top right-hand corner. 
Andrea will verify that your child is a Grandview Kid before adding you to the group.

Whether you are working or collecting ODSP benefits you are fully eligible for this initiative. You can also qualify for the Canada Disability Savings Bond by opening a Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP).
Guest speaker, Yves Thauvette, is a teacher and a mutual fund dealer with lived experience as a person with a disability. He himself has invested in a RDSP and now hopes to inform many others on saving for their long-term financial security.

CHALLENGE LEAGUE SPORTS is holding registration for Summer Soccer and Baseball
DATES:
March 11 & 25, 2015
(the weeks before and after March Break)
TIME:
6:30pm-7:30pm
LOCATION:
Village Union Public School
at Simcoe and Gibb in Oshawa
SPORTS:
- Soccer - 5 years and up
- Baseball - 12 years and up
FEE:
$75 per sport
- includes the season of play and a banquet
Challenge League is for all kids and adults in Durham Region with a disability or difference that prevents them from playing in existing leagues. There is a focus on teamwork, acceptance and skills development.

Grandview Children's Centre has partnered with the Clarington Fire Department and the Ontario Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management to bring the new THINK AHEAD fire safety program to families of Grandview Kids in Clarington.
Benefits of THINK AHEAD:
learn fire prevention and safety tips from firefighters
share information about your child with special needs to be stored in a database that first responders can access when en route to an emergency in your home
help your child become familiar with first responders so they'll recognize them as helpers in an emergency
