Happy New Year! ☔ It’s finally 2021.
Today, an illustrated essay about the maddening self-awareness of being Black in public, a look at the Baltimore Museum of Art’s 33 recent acquisitions, all by women artists, and photos from the streets of Argentina, where celebrations marked the legalization of abortion.

In a new illustrated essay, CM Campbell writes about the Hulu series Woke, which deals with the maddening self-awareness of being Black in public.
“With the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and so many others, and this summer’s cultural reckoning, a growing awareness of deeply rooted anti-Blackness seems to finally be catching on, though to varying degrees,” Campbell writes. “Woke stands out at this moment by highlighting the threats and challenges that Black people face on a daily basis.”
