If you’re looking for the best pizza in Alabama, you ought to take a trip to Hartselle. The town is home to Pizza Ed, a pizzeria on Main Street that sees customers driving hours just to try a slice.
In 2018, after looking at a couple of other locations, Eddie and Chandra Gwin found just the spot for their mom-and-pop pizzeria. It took them nearly a year to convert a former thrift store into a pizza restaurant, but they opened on Feb. 19, 2019, in honor of Eddie’s late father’s birthday.
“It truly was a pie and a prayer,” Eddie says. “I knew nothing about Hartselle. It just had to have been God’s plan. It just had to have been.”
