Do you know yours?

I’ve always been fascinated by love languages. The theory, developed by author and pastor Gary Chapman, suggests that people tend to express love to a partner in the way they’d personally most like to receive it. The problem is that our personal love “language” often differs from our partner’s. (You can take this online quiz to determine yours).
Four of the five love languages are fairly straightforward: quality time, physical touch, words of affirmation and acts of service. A fifth — receiving gifts — is the one that’s often misunderstood. If this is your partner’s love language, don’t be so quick to judge: It’s not that they’re materialistic or shallow — it’s more likely that they care far less about the price tag and more about the thought, care or effort that went into choosing a gift. It’s less about the gift itself and more about what it symbolizes: that their partner knows what they like, understands their tastes and hobbies and either purchases or makes something that fits the bill. It’s actually something we should all think about this holiday season.

This rundown of 2020’s biggest heartthrobs is a must-read — and no, it looks nothing like People’s Sexiest Men Alive list. Think Anthony Fauci (the sparkle in his eye in this gif is worth a click alone), “map daddy” Steve Kornacki and Adam Sandler in jorts. Hey, it’s been a weird year, OK? |
