The future of AI infrastructure may be sovereign clouds, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang said, as reported by Reuters. Speaking at the World Government Summit in Dubai, Huang emphasized the importance of keeping AI infrastructure within individual countries in order to "take initiative, activate your industry, build the infrastructure, as fast as you can."

NVIDIA has been affected by U.S. sanctions on exporting AI-ready chips to China and the Middle East. Countries around the world are working on regulating AI development and the use and export of potentially private data fed into AI models.

Meanwhile, NVIDIA is working on a potentially $30 billion unit for custom chips for the AI giants among its customers, such as OpenAI, Microsoft, Alphabet and Meta, Reuters said. The proposed custom unit would provide alternatives for cloud computing providers who might want to tweak NVIDIA's H100 and A100 AI processors for their specific needs.
