Now is not the time to be putting profit over lives

Good evening

Nations within and outside of Europe appear to be queuing up to pause the roll-out of Covid vaccinations using the Oxford Astra-Zeneca vaccine.

And that is despite the World Health Organisation, scientists in the UK and the EU regulators themselves saying there is no greater risk than there would be from any other vaccination programme.

It seems incredible that any nation would want to put its entire population at risk without damning evidence to prove their case. Because let’s face it, thousands of lives are at risk without the vaccination - and it also increases the risk of mutations of the virus, which can then put even those already vaccinated in danger.

The alternative European vaccine - the Pfizer-BioNTec version - is producing the same, if not more, risk of blood clots. That too is a tiny risk. So why is that not ‘being paused’ too?

Could it be something to do with the fact that the Oxford vaccine is a not-for-profit one while all of the others are not?

I sincerely hope not. This is not the time to be putting profit over lives.
