It was quite the weekend for OpenAI. With the one-year anniversary of the public introduction to its famed chatbot ChatGPT just days away, OpenAI had lost its CEO, president and other staff members.
The departures ricocheted through the company and Microsoft quickly stepped in. CEO Satya Nadella said former OpenAI CEO Sam Altman will join the tech giant as CEO of a newly created advanced AI research team along with other former OpenAI colleagues. To top it off, the majority of OpenAI staffers are threatening to quit the company and follow Altman to Microsoft.

Analysts expect the instability to push enterprises toward Microsoft. It’s also a wake-up call, amplifying the risk of going all in on one vendor.
