For over 30 years, Foodwise farmers markets have been a beacon of connection, joy, and delicious, sustainable food in San Francisco. It takes dedicated people like YOUâneighbors, farmers, chefs, volunteers, staffâshowing up week after week to keep our markets thriving.
Yet we canât take farmers markets for granted. It also takes deep investment in education and food access to make sure that this market community we have built togetherâand love so muchâwill grow and endure today, tomorrow, and for generations to come.
So far, 185 community members have contributed to support this long-term vision and investment in our local food system and San Francisco community, getting us within reach of our $60,000 year-end goal. We ensure that climate-wise California family farms can succeed in a difficult livelihood, and talented BIPOC food makers can grow their businesses and thrive. We help keep fresh, local produce affordable for all, so that Bay Area families on a budget can double their CalFresh benefits at the farmers market. We provide free food education for thousands of SFUSD kids, nurturing them to be empowered eaters and champions for farmers markets and a healthy food system.
