Planning a visit to the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway? There's no better time than during our anniversary gala! We’re marking 150 years of narrow-gauge heritage with an unmissable celebration of steam and diesel engines, railway history, family fun, and behind-the-scenes experiences. 

Trainspotting

An intensive gala timetable means that our heritage railway fleet will be out in full force, alongside returning favourites and special guest appearances. This is the best weekend of the year for trainspotting! Make sure you don't miss a special Grand Finale departing Ravenglass at 16:10 each day.

Gala Timetable 

Enjoy an action-packed schedule of steam and diesel locomotives! Services will include: full-line train journeys, morning shuttle services to Irton Road and Miteside, and a Grand Finale train departing Ravenglass at 16:10 daily, featuring unique locomotive combinations.

Visiting Engines

Three iconic locomotives return for our gala. Our headline guest Green Goddess (1925) is with us for a rare and historic visit! Bonnie Dundee (1900) will pull its first passenger trains here in 20 years, and Shelagh of Eskdale (1969) joins us from the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway.

Driver for a Donation 

Visit The Junction to sign up for this activity, and enjoy the opportunity to drive one of our locomotives on the Barrow Headshunt, from the workshop yard along the track adjacent to Network Rail’s Cumbrian Coast Line. Various locomotives will be used as part of this activity during the weekend.

First Class Upgrades

Why not experience our gala in style and treat yourself to a journey in a premium carriage? Upgrade on the day to travel in our Pullman Observation Coach 'Joan', Directors' Saloon 'Ruth' or our First Class Carriage. Please note, dogs are allowed in our First Class Carriage but not in 'Joan' or 'Ruth'.

150th Anniversary Season Tickets

Coming soon - we will be releasing 150 special tickets priced at £150 each, which will allow the holder unlimited travel on the railway for the rest of this year, and also include a bundle of anniversary keepsakes. Keep an eye on our website and social media channels for updates and to learn more.
