View in browser March, 2 2021 Nicolas Sarkozy, former president of France, was convicted on corruption charges on Monday and sentenced to a year in jail. It's a shocking development and one that former President Donald Trump might want to keep an eye on. Sarkozy is still popular with his country's conservatives and — like Trump — has been plotting a potential comeback. And, counter to Trump's claims that investigations into his actions are a "witch hunt," the Sarkozy case appears to be the rule of law playing out despite the power and support that the defendant wields.
