We would like to thank all our partners and friends for a fantastic year and for supporting our work to make the Nordic region a leading region for sustainable growth, and increase entrepreneurship, innovation and competitiveness in the Nordic region. Together we are stronger and can make a difference! This December marks the end of the previous Nordic Co-operation Programme for Innovation and Business Policy, and with it some of our largest programmes also come to an end. This means that 2018 will be year of new beginnings. The new Nordic Co-operation Programme for Innovation and Business Policy, running from 2018 to 2021, has just been published. With the new co-operation programme, the Nordic ministers for business intend to: Secure the Nordic region's adaptability to economic transitions, increase innovation and competitiveness, and improve global market opportunities. For Nordic Innovation, the new programme will mean that 2018 will bring a lot of new and exciting opportunities for Nordic cooperation, and we hope you will join us on this adventure. Nordic subchilling technology could be a gamechanger Researchers have for a longer period of time tried to find more sustainable ways to store fish for transportation. Subchilling is one of the most promising methods. It entails bringing the fish to low temperatures without freezing more than 20% of its water, and preventing large ice crystals to form in the meat. The method was developed through a Nordic Innovation-funded project by seven Nordic companies in the seafood sector, and eliminates the need for ice during transport and storage of the fish. This means that more fish will fit in each crate, making it possible to transport and store more fish per crate. This will in turn make transport and storage much more efficient, ultimately reducing CO2 emissions and costs. Through the project, the method has proved to be cost-efficient, environmentally friendly and improve the quality of the subchilled products.
