Nordic folk trio, Dreamers' Circus are joining us for a Celebrity Series digital performance, Friday, April 9 at 7:30pm EDT.
Contemporary and innovative in their approach, Dreamers' Circus draws inspiration from the deep traditions of folk music and reshapes them into something bright, shiny and new. Their art embraces music from Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, Finland and the far reaches of the windswept Faroe Islands.
This concert was pre-recorded at the Library Hall in Copenhagen's historic Round Tower, and will be available for on-demand viewing for all ticket holders until the following Thursday. Tickets are on sale for $20.
King Christian IV of Denmark began building The Round Tower in 1637 with the intention of unifying three functions (a church, a library, and an observatory) into one central building.
Five years later, the build was complete and became known as the Trinity Complex. As promised, King Christian IV opened the Trinity Church on the first floor, a University Library above it, and an Observatory at the top level.
Inaugurated in 1657, The Library Hall originally held the University of Copenhagen’s book collection. The collection remained in the hall for two centuries until it was relocated to a larger space in 1861.
Today, The Library Hall’s 800+ Square Meters studio houses various art, culture, history and science exhibitions. It is also used as a concert venue, hosting about 100 concerts per year.

Support for this performance is provided by the Barr Foundation through its ArtsAmplified initiative.
Neighborhood artist, Guy Mendilow returns to the Series with a free streaming concert on Thursday, April 8. The concert will premiere on our website at 7:30pm EDT.
Mendilow's musical explorations range around the world, from the Ladino music of the Sephardic Jewish Diaspora, to China, South Africa, and beyond. In this concert, Mendilow will present a series of storytelling videos that include a virtual adaptation of his project, "The Forgotten Kingdom" with sand animation, as well as new videos and live recordings from his Ensemble.
The program will feature excerpts from Radio Play(s), Episode 1: “Resistance & Resilience,” a video series co-hosted by Guy Mendilow and Regie Gibson, as well as pieces from his radio-theatre story series, The Forgotten Kingdom.
