Good morning, and welcome to the Saints Insider newsletter for Tuesday, September 20. In the wake of the Saints' frustrating 20-10 loss to the Buccaneers, at least the NFL appeared to get something right Monday morning when it suspended Buccaneers Mike Evans one game for his role in the 4th quarter brawl that unfolded on the Superdome turf. Evans, who has a history with Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore, clearly escalated a situation when he decided to deck Lattimore for retaliating to Leonard Fournette's shove. After a review, the league decided that though both Evans and Lattimore were disqualified, only Evans' actions rose to the level of suspension. This is the second time Evans has been suspended for an on-field incident with Lattimore. The other one was similar, back in 2017. Lattimore may not be out of the woods yet, though: He could have a hefty fine waiting for him later this week. Not wanting to read any more about the fracas, or for that matter, much at all about what went down Sunday? Great, let beat writer Terrin Waack help you turn the page with her weekly Marching On feature. That's all we've got for now. Thanks as always for reading. Cheers, Luke Johnson |
