What does a man known for striking fear in the hearts of some of the greatest NFL quarterbacks of all time and making countless wide receivers reconsider that slant pattern across the middle have in common with financial advisors? Both NFL legend Ray Lewis and financial pros understand that when it comes to taking control of your finances, money is just one part of a much bigger conversation. "The relationships you guys have, it's not about money. It's about people," Lewis said. "And a lot of times I think we get caught up in life going so fast … we're missing the human interaction. We've got to reconnect with who we are as people. "Because the only way that we survive is if people understand people." The NFL Hall of Famer and two-time Super Bowl champion delivered those remarks during a special keynote address as the annual Nitrogen Fearless Investing Summit took over Miami, Florida. Hosted by the wealthtech firm formerly known as Riskalyze, the three-day event attracted more than 900 people for connections and educational sessions amid the palm trees. I was on the ground for the final day of the event. In addition to catching up with Lewis and taking part in a panel about the importance of effectively telling your firm's story alongside a crew of industry insiders, I spoke to Nitrogen CEO Aaron Klein about why kicking off the summit's "Nitrogen era" with a bang was such a big deal. Klein also explained why he was so excited about the more than $50,000 generated by the end of the event in support of Hope for the Fatherless, an organization that supports orphaned and vulnerable children in Ethiopia. Check out the full story on Ray Lewis, my chat with Aaron Klein, a slew of wealthtech announcements made during Fearless 2023 and much more from the event, only at Financial Planning.
