Data centre operator NEXTDC is planning to acquire three new commercial property sites for future data centre developments in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, which it will fund through a $281 million new share placement and purchase plan.

Australian Internet of Things company Freestyle Technology has secured a contract to supply the South Korean Municipality of Gimje with a smart water IoT platform comprising smart meters, wireless communications, end-to-end visibility of all water assets, improved leak detection, and automated meter reading.

Communications Minister Mitch Fifield has questioned the manner in which the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman has calculated the percentage rise of complaints relating to services deliver over the national broadband network.

Macquarie Telecom group executive Luke Clifton has launched a scathing attack on the telecommunications industry, demanding what specific actions individual telcos and businesses will take to lower consumer complaints, “and then hold them to it before the industry ends up facing its own Royal Commission”.
