Term 3 Enrolments This year Wānaka Primary School is not taking enrolments for children who intend to engage in any snowsport programmes during the school week. Families will need to make their own arrangements for their children's schooling. The correspondence school, Te Kura, is able to provide online learning whilst students are residing in Wānaka. You can also approach your current school and seek online learning from them for term 3. Enrolling at Wānaka Primary School is not an option for children who are in snowsports programmes during the school week, as this does not constitute regular attendance. |

Staff and Student Well-Being (off to a good start this week again) We started the day off well this morning with the wonderful team from Cooks providing us with a breakfast cooked from their own mobile kitchen. It is an absolute pleasure to work with the Cooks team (not only because they provide breakie!!), they are friendly and easy to have in the school, they have also helped over the last 2 terms shifting furniture, helping with a few odd jobs and getting on with the job of recladding our school with such vim and vigour. Thanks to Eddie, Hamish and the team for being such great people to have working in our school.
Five teachers headed off to their first session of the Incredible Years Teacher Training in Cromwell this morning, keen to refresh the skills they already know and learn new ones as well. We have some senior students taking part in the Growing Taller programme, starting today, and on Friday we have 22 students taking part in the Seasons for Growth programme, our largest number ever. This shows the need we have to keep providing extra support for our tamariki. Along with the Anxiety Webinars all staff are involved with, these initiatives are to keep building our strategies to empower students to be confident, resilient students who can self manage, emotionally regulate and confidently take on the challenges learning and life can throw at them. The world is a bit tough out there at the moment for us all. As part of this we are also organising a parent information session, either online or here in the school hall (or maybe even both), so you can also hear what the experts from the Life Education Trust programme offer, about what you as a parent can do, to support your own children in managing anxiety. The info that came from our first teacher webinar was excellent and very practical. So watch out for this evening session on Anxiety in upcoming newsletters. Reporting to Parents - Book in these dates now We will be sending out our written mid year reports near the end of the term again this year. These are due to be emailed out to you via our Edge Student Portal the week ending Friday 23rd June. On Thursday 22nd June we invite you to our pods so your children can share their learning, their achievements and their challenges with you as you look through workbooks, at artefacts of their learning, and look at exhibits on the walls and in the pods. This is our Parents' Deep Dive as your child takes you through their half year of learning. Pods will be open from 11am - 12.45pm and then again from 1.30 - 3pm and 4 - 5pm for you to choose a time to pop in and have learning conversations with your children. Teachers will provide prompts for parents so they know what to look for and where to look, the children will also ensure they are prepared, organised and able to respond to your questions. The following week we will hold parent teacher conferences so that you can talk to teachers about any queries or concerns you have after the Parent Deep Dive and reading the written report. We will set up our booking system for these conferences later in the term. Our Parent Conference days are 28th and 29th June 3.15 - 5pm. If you can't make it these days or want to catch up earlier, remember you can email your child's teacher and seek a meeting with them to talk about your child's learning, progress and well-being at any time in the term. Seasons for Growth Sessions Starts This Week Children who have opted into the S4G programme this term will have received an email from Mandy at REAP. The sessions will be held here at school over the next 6 Fridays between 1.30-3pm, however this Friday the sessions will be between 11am - 12.30pm due to Tribe afternoon activities. Tribe Day this Friday Tribe Day is this Friday 12th May - remember to come dressed in your Tribe colours. |

| Last Thursday, Pod 1 (previously Pod 4) enjoyed a fabulous trip down to Bremner Bay. The weather played its part to allow the students to sketch the landscape and create art works, using natural materials, as part of our 'Creatives in Schools' project. |

| The much-loved Glow Show is back! Friday 14th July 10am - 10:35am 82,000 Kiwi kids have already seen these innovative, glow-in-the-dark giant puppet shows, which are an absolute favourite for kids, families and educators. The Glow Show’s latest storytelling bonanza is at a venue near you, this June and July. This year it is the Wonderland Glow Show - a fabulously Kiwified version of Alice in Wonderland. The show’s masterfully crafted characters and intriguing scenery will transport its audiences into a weird and wonderful world of dancing flamingos, an eight-metre caterpillar and giant flowers. Through its bilingual storytelling, it shows reading as a true superpower, a power every kid has inside! The Glow Show educates and entertains, by promoting literacy and Te Reo Māori, and celebrating the exquisite art of ultraviolet puppetry. It offers a truly memorable experience with positive and uplifting messages for tamariki. Click here for tickets |
