The last week of term...can you believe it? Friday is the last day of term 3 and school closes at the usual time of 3pm. The first day of school for term 4 is Monday 17th October. Term 4 is nine weeks long with the last day of school for the year being Thursday 15th December finishing at 3pm. Buses will run this day. Dress Like a Pirate Tribe Day What a fun day we all had. And what a fearsome, but colourful turnout of pirates. There were some fabulous activities set up from plank walking and parrot making to treasure hunts. Kapahaka Performance at the Central Lake Polyfest This is being staged in Queenstown and all students in the senior Kapahaka group will have received information about the time and what to wear etc. If you are unsure of any arrangements for your tamariki who are in this group, please contact Anne Jenkins ([email protected]). PTA Meeting The next PTA Meeting is Wednesday 19th October, 7pm in the WPS staffroom. Everyone is welcome. School Photos These are being taken by our usual photographers, Heritage Productions, on Tuesday 25th October. Remember Labour Day is on Monday 24th so don't forget to send your children along all spruced up for a gorgeous photo - in correct uniform, preferably the dark blue polo shirt rather than the white (as white shades can vary and all in the one colour looks good) and with flash hairdos. Camps in Term 4 A REMINDER TO PAY FOR ALL CAMPS NO LATER THAN 3pm TOMORROW PLEASE. The Year 5 camp is in week 3 and the Year 6 is in week 5 so please do this now. |

Positive Behaviour For Learning - PB4L PB4L School-Wide looks at behaviour and learning from a whole-of-school as well as an individual child perspective. The framework is based on international evidence and is helping New Zealand schools build a culture where positive behaviour and learning is a way of life. Each fortnight we focus on a school wide goal to encourage positive behaviours. The current goal is: 'We are open to new learning opportunities and challenging ourselves - we are brave!' |

Wānaka Junior Touch Wānaka Junior Touch will be played in Term 4 on Friday nights at Kelly’s Flat (Aubrey Road) for Year 5 through to Year 10 (see below for Year 3 & 4*). Last year all teams were mixed, but this year we are looking to have separate girls and boys divisions. The focus will be on fun, participation, skill development, and learning the game. Season Start: Friday 21 October 2022 (first week of term) Season End: Friday 9 December 2022 Times: Teams will be allocated their time slot (likely between 3.30pm and 6pm) once registration numbers and teams are finalised. Grades: Grades will be determined by the number of registrations received but we are looking to have teams for girls and boys for i) Years 5 & 6 ii) Years 7 & 8 and iii) Years 9 & 10 Teams: We will allocate players into even teams, so players may get moved during the first weeks if games are lopsided. Playing Uniform: Everyone will be allocated a team and a playing singlet. No bare feet, spikes, and rugby boots with removable sprigs are allowed. Cost: $40 per child and payment will be online. Registrations: Opening later this week (check at https://www.sporty.co.nz/wanakajuniortouch ) * For Years 3 & 4, Tiny from Sport Central will run 45-minute sessions. The sessions are about learning the skills and playing games, as the kids work towards playing Touch. There will be no fee payable, but parent help will be required to help out so email Tiny at [email protected] to register your child and offer Tiny a helping hand. |
