Plastic Strategy : is the European Union ambitious enough?

The Plastics Strategy of the European Commission, long awaited for, many times postponed, has finally been published. It is an action plan aiming at rethinking our use of plastic, and at tackling plastic pollution, especially  its impact on the marine environment. Is it up to the challenge that represents the pollution of our rivers, coastlines and ocean? Surfrider reviews the situation.

Surfrider publishes its White Paper for a plastic bottle- free ocean

Plastic bottles are common household items designed for a single use. They only last the time needed to empty them. Used daily, mainly outside, plastic bottles often end in nature where they become real predators.

CALVADOS CHAPTER

Following the storms in January, marine litter washed up on the beaches of Normandy. The Surfrider Calvados chapter organized an Ocean Initiative on the beach of Merville-Franceville. More than a hundred volunteers participated and France 3 TV was there to talk about the event! Thank you and congratulations to all the volunteers!

THE ART IS IN THE BAG

On the 19th and 20th of January, the Surfrider Gironde Chapter organized a 2 days event at the Douves market in Bordeaux about the protection of the oceans and zero waste habits with concerts, exhibitions, conferences, DIY workshops, talks.
