Children and young people's survey: find the results for your local trust We asked over 25,000 children and young people under the age of 16 (and their parents and carers) about the hospital care they received during March, April and May 2024. Our 2024 survey found that most children and young people said they had a positive experience of hospital care. But the results, published this month, also found that improvements are needed in some areas, and that parents with concerns were not always taken seriously. We use the results from the survey to build an understanding of risk and the quality of services. Where survey findings provide evidence of a change to the level of quality, we use the results to inform our assessments. Trusts use the results to identify and make the changes they need to improve the experience of people who use their services |

Shining a light on the challenges for people with dementia We've published a report that looks at the experiences of people with dementia who use health and care services, and how services are responding. The report found that people did not always feel there was ongoing care and had to seek out community charity support groups themselves. We also saw examples of how good care has a positive impact on people's wellbeing. We will use the findings in this report to help shape our work to define what good care looks like for people with dementia and inform the next phase of CQC’s Dementia Strategy. |
Blog: Dr Arun Chopra reflects on the power of community in mental health care Dr Arun Chopra has now started as our first Chief Inspector of Mental Health. In his introductory blog, Arun talks about his career so far, and also the role of community in mental health. Results from our 2024 community mental health survey, published last month, highlight the issues that people trying to access services are facing. The results of the survey, informed by feedback from over 14,000 people, continue to show that some people are not able to access care when they need it. |
