December 2024

As we gather around the table this holiday season, we can’t help but reflect on the incredible year we've had—all thanks to supporters like you. In 2025, we’re dreaming of an even brighter future. We’ve already unwrapped one major gift: the Calais Access Center earlier this year, with the goal of being present in more of our communities.

By June of 2025, we hope to deliver five Access Centers to bring crucial services closer to the communities that need them most. This holiday season, help us keep the magic alive. Your donation is more than a gift—it’s a lifeline for those we serve. Please make your gift today at https://eaaa.org/2025-annual-appeal-donations, and let’s make 2025 the best year yet!

Eastern Area Agency on Aging is partnering with Green Acres Kennel Shop for the Green Acres Challenge, a fundraiser for the Furry Friends Food Bank, which supports older community members by providing monthly pet food kits. Don Hanson of Green Acres will donate $500 if $2,500 is reached and another $500 if $5,000 is reached.

Help us unlock the full $1,000 by donating today. Scan the QR code or visit EAAA.org/GreenAcresChallenge to make a difference for pets and their owners in our community.

Durgin Center Events and Activities

We understand that the rising cost of services and programming is not ideal; however, in order to continue to provide activities, exercise, and educational opportunities at Durgin, increasing prices is the way to ensure long term sustainability.

Join us December 13th at 1pm for a panel from The Bangor Lions Club, our December Durgin Center Spotlight Sponsor!

The Bangor Lions Club provides glasses to area residents that may have trouble affording them. This panel will have a presentation about the program, and time to ask questions regarding it from the people who work directly with the Vision and Health initiative. Refreshments will be served.

We ask that you sign up in advance by calling the Durgin Center (207) 941-2865 or filling out this online form so we know how many people to expect.

Calais Access Point Events and Activities

Dear Marci,

A Medicare & You handbook is mailed to me every year, but I’m never quite sure what I should do with it. How should I be using my Medicare & You handbook?
