Pentagon to increase troop deployments in Middle East by up to 3,000 amid rising tensions with Iran

Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan had signaled the move on Thursday, telling reporters that additional deployments might be required to protect U.S. forces and interests in the Middle East. A U.S. official confirmed the decision Friday.
